An Interesting Challenge

At some point it became an interesting challenge to explore this as a practice.

Maybe you're familiar with the phrase, if you spot it you've got it.

Another way to say this is: I am as I see you to be in the moment I see you that way.

The practice goes something like this. When I judge you as ignorant, how am I ignorant in that precise moment?

I’m ignorant to the disturbing impact on myself this criticism is having.

I’m ignorant to how much better it feels to see you as innocently learning about life in your unique way.

I’m ignorant to the full meaning of the word ignorant.

I’m ignorant to seeing how this is for me.

I’m ignorant to noticing that, in the moment I believe a thought, not believing it is not an option. Prior to being able to address it, the belief has its life through my emotional response. The same is likely true for them.

I’m ignorant of all the beauty and support around me, the amazingness of the body and the miracle of being.

Inspired by Poems of Ryƍkan

train engine roar
welcome
joyous deep resonance
rain too received its cue
countless leaf drums
symphony unleashed
sound ensconced
sensation enraptured

attention given
bouncing rain drops
sprung leaves
waving here
and there
penetrating gratitude
trembles tears
gift received

light rain sneaks in whispers
drips punctuate exo exoskeletal shelter bliss
dry, warm separation
oh to be drenched again

naked skin gathered in bumps
hasty anticipation
slipping between welcoming sheets
remembered warmth soothes

ever vigilant
await nothing
rest in peace

the unnecessary released
breath continues
what was here
breathed

deep deep beauty
penetrates through
raping definition
invites search's end

resting in drunken dry warm escape
images word-free

teetering being
nothing to tell
